THE PLACE for SCULPTIES IN SECOND LIFE!

Once again I began my quest for some place WOW...NOW and totally cool to visit in Second Life. So I asked my trusty 'cool place to visit' finder person ....no NOT Lassie .... Blu Jupiter to the rescue!!! Now I have to confess I have a certain fascination with sculpties as I have NO clue how to make one and they add a whole new dimension to Second Life.  So, I was pretty excited about receiving a landmark to :Sculptie Wonder!

At this point let me just say there are 4 connecting sims, all having to do with Sculpties : Sculptie Wonder, Sculptie Animals, Sculptie Experiments, and Sculptie Paradise. ( TO VISIT: Please click on the island names for the SLURL).  All have something unique to offer and you, like me, might just find one that tickles your fancy more than the other. Never liking to limit myself, I have 2 favorites!

Sculptie Paradise: The sim consists mainly of a giant Mayan pyramid whose insides contain an elaborately constructed labrynth. Five stories of  twists and turns and moving (yes they really DO move) walls and some waaaay cool optical illusion texturing on the walls which makes finding your way out even more difficult. Blu and I made our way through the maze and DID manage to get to the treasure which was on the topmost floor. Be prepared to be patients;  it took us nearly 30 minutes to get to the end. For us, the treasure itself was not the REAL prize: it was the accomplishment of having made it to the end! HINT: It does help to have a good sense of direction and no fear of closed in spaces. My sense of direction is horrid so having Blu with me was essential to me escaping the maze!  For an added bit of fun, I suggest taking a buddy and seeing how quickly you can each make it through, or do it in teams! Once done, have a look around the rest of the sim as there are other delights to see as well.

While the labrynth offers a challenge, the next island we went to offered us a place to sooth our souls, relax and unwind a bit.

Sculptie Wonder: This sim is aptly named as it holds a gorgeous garden, complete with beautiful sculptie statues, backgammon boards, a chess set and a tic tac toe board, all worthy of having a play. The garden reminds me of something I would see in Europe, not quite the gardens at Versailles but neverthless beautiful and somewhat magical. To add some fun to it all, the creators have placed rideable animals around, from snails you can surf on (check out the picture of Blu hanging 10) to dinosaurs you can race with. This sim is definitely one I would visit time and time again just to get the full depth and feel of the place.

There are certainly other wonders this 4 sim Sculptie haven offers. Visit the islands in the sky where you will find different scenes : a winter wonderland with gingerbread homes, a fantasy forest complete with faeries and unicorns and other sublime treats that will leave you with a feeling of wonder!

As always, we love to hear what you think!  What did you enjoy most?  Happy trails my fellow SL explorers!

7 Days Magic Bakery

At any given time in Second Life we  may happen upon a place that tickles our fancy, floats our boat or just plain intrigues us! Unfortunately, time is not always available for these journeys of serendipity. Fortunately for me, there are people in Second Life who are always exploring and on the look out for just such places ( some might call these people adventurers, I call them heroes!).

The latest discovery by one of these said adventurers is a place called 7 Days Magic Bakery. For this I have to award Blu Jupiter (Tribe Estate Manager) Explorer Of The Week Award!! Every time  I go to this sim I  walk away with a big smile on my face. Perhaps it's my inner child , perhaps it's the fact that they have calorie free chocolate and a plethora of other decadent desserts or maybe, it's just a feel good place where the creator's attention to detail and sense of fun runs rampant.

The TP point will take you to the beginning of the tour , landing you before a cartoonesque character that is strangely likeable and extremely welcoming.  A this point I DO encourage you to enable your media as the entire sim is audio interactive and while sometimes audio can grate on your nerves, this one is charming and adds spice to this already tasty treat of a sim. The characters scattered throughout the sim have definite personalities and I couldn't help but feel like I was an extra in one of those cool Dreamworks films. ( Hollywood, baby!) There are a few ways to explore this sim :follow the tour or go explore on your own, or do what I did... go on the tour first and THEN explore on your own.

From a town hall to quaint little cafes that serve tasty treats ( each with a surprise inside), this sim will both amaze and delight. My personal fave .....The Pastry Factory. Here you can conjure up your very own divine treat, ranging from a chocolate swirl to a fruit filled pastry to creme brulee croissants and lots in between. To create your own confection, just take a seat at the beginning of the assembly line , press 'GO" and you too can become a  master pastry chef in a  matter of minutes!!! . When your masterpiece is finished , it will appear at the end of the assembly line..ready for you to buy ( for 0 lindens) . A bit of an oddity at this point, so be aware that after you BUY your creation, you will need to TAKE it. Voila!  Look in your inventory and then click the object and WEAR. Then and only then, will you be able to experience the scrumptiousness of your divine divinty.... and best of all your 'surprise inside' will be revealed!

In the mood for more sugary sweets?  Try your hand at making something completely different!!  Don't stop there...wander around the factory a bit , see some of the workers on their lunch break and take a peek at the upstairs part of the factory. There's even a theatre on the sim, so grab your snack and head on in.

An interesting aside, some of you might recognize the brand name of 7 Days. It is indeed a division of the real life Greek food conglomerate, Vivartia. This corporate sim is less about business and more about high quality builds and guaranteed fun so 'Bravo' to Involve3d, the company who created this magical sim!

To give you a sneak preview, here are a few pictures of  7 Days Bakery.  Make sure to note the expressions on the patron's face....eager to assuage her hunger. Is your mouth watering yet? Never fear...you're just a TP away.  Please click HERE for the SLURL!

I hope you enjoy 7 Days as much as I did !! I wonder JUST how many combinations one can come up with and what combination of ingredients would be the most unusual? Let me know what YOU designed and count me in for a taste test....unless of course it contains anchovies !!! Happy Baking!!

Rustica - LagNmoor - RUNE

Dazz & I recently found this truly inspiring piece of Second Life created by Maxwell Graf. Wandering around this three sim epic (Rustica, LagNmoor, RUNE) it is not hard to see the meticulous attention to detail and untethered creativity that Maxwell has poured into this "production". I say "production" because at every turn, there is a new adventure a new tug at the imagination, it feels almost like being part of some historical film set. It is truly inspiring work, it is a joy to see and we thoroughly recommend a visit.

Maxwell himself is an enthusiastic host and while we where there he was more than happy to play guide to us around some of the many places of interest. As part of the experience there is an Extreme Off-Road Circuit (Alpine DeathRace 2000). Max helped us rezz a Quad ATV and a Trail Bike. He then took us at breakneck speed around the Alpine Course. I won't spoil the fun, suffice to say there are many twists and turns to this particular part of the experience.

To achieve the best experience here, I recommend that you keep away from the "Fly" button and simply wind your way along the many paths. There is so much to see and do, that flying would be a sure fire way to miss out on something including the atmosphere. There is something of interest and delight around almost every corner, and the journey is not without a goal. Very soon after setting out on your journey there will loom a huge castle in the far distance. Make reaching that Castle your goal and follow your nose to get there.

To give you an idea of the adventure that awaits you here is a list of only a few things to look out for:

Sharks
Lava
Spikes
Zombies
Bears
Big Jumps
Secret Caves...etc....etc

Here are a few pictures to give you an idea of what awaits you on Rustica, LagNmoor & RUNE. They do not do justice to one of the best builds I have had the pleasure to experience and this is an EXPERIENCE!!

The Journey Begins
The Goa

Nobody here?

Civilization?

Offroad anyone?
The End....or the Beginning?Lots of furniture/home furnishings and some of the builds are available to purchase, check out the "living" displays around the sims and also the the main store within Castle Rustica.

Many thanks to Max.

It should be noted that the Islands are rated Mature and are restricted to those who have payment info on file with Linden Lab.
